SEPTEMBER SUPER CRAWL – 20th – 30th
Our aim is to galvanise, inspire and connect artists with local businesses and the general community to promote regeneration. The St Kilda Art Crawl provides a platform for the community to get together and create events.
Dates for the 3rd St Kilda Art Crawl are set and we look forward to ushering the best Spring and Summer St Kilda has had for a decade...strap in or you will spin out!
St Kilda Art Crawl has gone massive!
And why not I say!
With so many wonderful things about to happen in our Burb I thought let's do this proper like and give the visitors to our city over the Grand Final weeks a chance to merge their choices, sports people are not one dimensional you know, I play Lawn Bowls at a competitive level and love art too eh!
Our 3rd St Kilda Art Crawl should be extra special!
St Kilda is about to go through a rebirth of significance as the primary tourism playground in Australia an we should be celebrating that with what we do best, arts and entertainment!
I developed St Kilda Art Crawl to be a simple and easily duplicated event that has the support of the many arts businesses and studios in St Kilda and I have also opened venues like Christ Church with the help of Fr Turi Hollis, landlords Jenny Li who gifted us 33 Fitzroy Street and Fred Warschauer who opened up his shops in the bottom end of The Street, the owners of the Renix site also came with us.
We have been gifted $30,000 by Creative Victoria to help produce this next years events that include St Kilda Art Crawl, St Kilda Writers Week and Oz International Film Festival, who are putting yet another arrow into our quiver of creative wonderment for our proud place of spirit.
I would like to personally thank Filitsa Giannopolous for opening the door to Martin's office taking me there twice and gaining the Ministers in principle support for what we had proposed, further congratulations to our President Tim Barnett for delivering an expanded vision including SKWW and Frank's new film festival that Martin was very excited to inform me about.
AND THERE IS MORE!!!
Inspired by legendary local Gonzo writer, Colin Talbot, we have conspired with Renan Goksin and Gilgamesh Connections to create St Kilda Writers Week - Gilgamesh Connections.
We have an awesome program of both local, national and international authors, publishers, poets, bards, bloggers, hip hoppers and a wonderful suite of venues.
Claypots Seafood Express will be SKWW HQ and both Claypots Restaurants will be providing their usual 7 day jazz/blues music feast and some very special events.
Alliance Francaise, Tolarno, Christ Church, MEMO Music Hall, St LuJa, I Carusi II/Sorsi e Morsi, The Vineyard and the Alex Theatre provide us with an absolutely wonderful architectural experience that matches the mood I wanted to achieve. St Kilda is gloriously splattered with the first major buildings in St Kilda and we are blessed by their facades.
Keep an eye on this site for more news or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and involvement.
